30. From Sailor to Surgeon with Dr. Robert McAllister

What is the business side of medicine?   Why is understanding business important?  Why doing good is good for business?   Medicine is a profession and we talk with Robert McAllister, MD about the business of healthcare.  We learn about his beginnings as a corpsman in the Navy right out of high school which gave him a love of medicine.  We even followed his journey through the Army reserves and being deployed to Afghanistan with the Special Forces.  His life experience brought him into private practice where he and his partners grew from three physicians into five offices, three urgent care facilities, and seventeen practitioners.  Along the way he learned a lot about business, company culture, leadership, strengths and weaknesses and he shares it with us (and YOU our listeners).
